before summer sweeps in and steals the spotlight, we’re throwing one last celebration for spring.
this november, we’re partnering with te kano estate to showcase the remarkable life series, a collection of wines inspired by one extraordinary central otago resident: old man kōwhai. perched high above te kano’s northburn vineyard, old man kōwhai has become a symbol of renewal. each year, seeds from this ancient tree are collected and propagated, helping restore native landscapes throughout the region.
but this isn’t just a story about a tree. it’s a story told through wine.
the life series reflects the estate’s philosophy of life, land and legacy, while te kano itself means “the seed”. these unforgettable wines capture the diversity of central otago in every glass, from crisp pinot gris and refreshing blanc de noir to elegant chardonnay and pinot noir, each expressing the unique landscapes that shape them. the sort of wines that make “just one more bottle” seem like a very good idea.
we’re pouring this remarkable collection by the glass and bottle all month long, with every purchase accompanied by a seed packet from old man kōwhai himself, so you can grow your own little piece of central otago at home.
additionally, we’re hosting two very special events.
wednesday 11 november | 5.30–7.30pm: so you think you’ve got good taste?
a chance to blend your own chardonnay and pinot noir, guided by te kano winemaker dave sutton. enjoy a SOUL signature snack alongside your wine as you put your blending skills to the test. will your blend come out on top?
wednesday 18 november | 5.30–7pm: a match made at SOUL
five wines. five perfect bites. five perfect matches? decide for yourself.
as a memento of both evenings, every guest will take home a kōwhai seedling. after all, great wines aren’t the only things worth nurturing.
